HANDPRESS (RELIEF PRINTNG)

Handpress for any process of printing (relief printing). This very simple press allows you to generate much weight by means of a lever. The elements to be printed out can vary in height from 0 to 30mm. The maximum print surface is 21x30cm (A4). This press can be a very attractive alternative compared to a cylinder press.

AQUALAC

Aqualac is a water based ink specially developed for lino- and woodprints. Easy to apply for precise results on any suitable material (such as wood, lino, carton, etc.). Exists in twelve bright colours. Cleaning with lukewarm water with some soap. Non toxic.

WATER SOLUBLE BLOCK PRINTING INK

A new series of water soluble blockprinting ink has been selected to complete our range in this area. The speedball factory developed a range of colours adapted for wood, lino, rodoide etc. plates. No need to say that cleaning with water is an advantage especially for young printers. Colour fastness is excellent (8 on the scale from 1 to 8 for most of them). The final result is particularly attractive due to the satin aspect and luminosity that remains after drying.

LINOLEUM WALTON

FLEXIBLE PRINTING PLATE

A flexible printing plate for cutting or engraving. This is a new material flexible with en adhesive back, foil protected to be glued on a rigid underground. Best tools are cissors, cutters, gouges. When your plate is ready for printing you can make as many prints as with any other blockprint technique. Particulary useful as an initiation to blockprint also sincerely appreciated by professionals because of its precision.

SHARPENING

All PFEIL tools are supplied burnished and polished. The edges are sharpened in 15·-25· angle, according to tool size and function. When otherwise burnishing a tool, the following rules must be observed:
Correct shape of the edge: Incorrect shape of the edge:
When a tool is dry-sharpened, its steel edge must turn neither blue nor gray; the color shift would signify that excess heat has impaired its hardness.
For small tools, grindstones with 100-200 grain must be used; for large tools, stones with 80-100 grain.
